Sebek is a God of ancient Egypt who was worshipped as a result of fear. The crocodile was deified as Sebek and was represented when the canals dried up this predator would go forward on land, hunting and devouring what it caught. The crocodile in early times was associated as a companion of Set-Typhon, note the companion of Aapep was Shesses, who took the form of a crocodile and attempted to devour Ra to gain his power. As Sebek expanded in later dynasties, his power was directly related to Water. This statue is crafted as Sebek the powerful God, who is adorned with a Uraeus, a pair of Horns representing power with a solar disk and a pair of plumes. Shortly before the end of the VIth Dynasty, Sebek soon grew in power and was considered a Four-Fold God representing Ra, Seb, Shu and Osiris. In the Pyramid Texts, Sebek holds the power to restore sight to the dead.
