Baalzebub, which in the Greek translation was Beelzebub is a Lord of Air, his power to keep flies away or send them forth by offerings and invocations was legendary in the ancient Phoenican culture. The ancient symbol of Beelzebub was a fly with the head of man within it, in line with the traditional symbolism of Gods having composite animal and human features, depending on their role.
